Born in Harihara Town in Davangere District of Karnataka, Keshava had his first encounter with the world of illusion in his teens. He was once completely mesmerized by a levitation act performed by a magician in his hometown. The weeklong show by the magician inspired and intrigued the hidden illusionist in Keshava. He began exploring “tricks of the trade” through books and also received informal guidance from some of the well-known magicians and hypnotists to reach where he is today.
Over a span of 25 years, he has conducted over 3,000 shows around the country, including in the states of Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, West Bengal, Delhi and Rajasthan. While he is highly popular at celebrations such as birthday parties, weddings, and get-togethers, Keshava also adds a distinct charm to promotional and awareness events, and recreational programs with his stage magic, hypnosis, close-up magic, illusion magic, science-based magic and impromptu.
A Thing of Magic is a Joy Forever!
No gadget stands a chance of replacing the joy of a live performance. “The art of magic is something that takes the viewer to a happy trance — be it kids or adults,” says Keshava. “You can always a get a trick or two online. But that’s not what magic is all about. It’s about the composition of a series of tricks, the presentation and the showmanship,” he adds.
Healing Touch & Confidence Building
Surely, magic is all fun and entertainment but Keshava also uses his conjuring skills as a therapy in junior patients undergoing post-operative care. “Many times, we visit hospitals and orphanages to entertain the less fortunate and those in pain. Happiness is the biggest medicine and magic, in a very simple way, refracts reality to the eyes, thus filling them with awe and happiness,” explains the magician. He further adds, “Some hypnotic methods in magic use scientific means to suppress the patient’s pain and low mood.”
He also takes immense pride in sharing with us the success story of a 35-year-old magician, who he mentored since her childhood days. As a school-going child, the girl lacked self-confidence owing to her poor academic inclination. Her father made a casual mention about this to Keshava, who in turn taught her some magic tricks so she could perform to her teachers and classmates. This played a key role in boosting her morale and went a long way in changing the course of her life. “When academically dull kids are taught the art of magic, they practice and showcase it to their peers. This gives them a sense of confidence and motivates them. It helps improve their academic performance too,” he informs.

Keshava started his own entertainment venture, Sonu Events, in the year 2001. Based in the city of Bangalore, it manages various facets of events, including flower arrangements, décor, balloon art, tattoo art and caricatures among others.
He is not only supported by his family as a pillar of strength but each member is a talent powerhouse unto themselves. His son Nihal is an award-wining young magician, also specializing in the art of ventriloquism. Daughter Vishika is another bright and budding artist gaining footing in the field of magic and ventriloquism. Both Nihal and Vishika have performed at various public and media platforms. Keshava’s wife Jayalakshmi is undoubtedly the backbone of every single show and event of his. She handles the preparations and executions with poise and the unmissable gentle smile on her face.
