The richly nutty and smoky aroma of roasted coffee is literally the “eye opener” for those who wake up to their cuppa every morning and can’t have it any other way. Enter 2025, and there’s a strong whiff of mocha brewing in the world of fashion too! The Pantone Color Institute has chosen Mocha Mousse as the color of year. Every year, the Pantone Color of the Year program selects a hue that captivates the imagination of the entire design community.
“Mocha”, caffè mocha or mocaccino, one of the world-famous variants of coffee gets its name from the Yemeni port of Mokha, once well known for the beverage trade, circa 15th – 17th century. Interestingly, what is called mocha today is made by adding chocolate and is believed to be the result of a mix-up arising from the idea of chocolaty flavor found in some Yemeni coffees.
Whatever be the historical coffee-chocolate inspirational confusion, the luscious mocha mousse is all set to fill not just the dessert platter but essentially the style wardrobes this year. Here’s a warm brown shade that suggests a sense of contentment, comfort and class – combining and balancing the good taste of chocolate and coffee! We also take a lowdown at the other style suggestions that will amp up your fashion game.
Rich Earthy Hues with Sprinkles of Creamy and Bright Yellows
While it’s the rich browns, plums, burgundy and earthy avocado and olives that seem to be the flavor of the season, hold on your horses. There’s more to the palette than the terracotta shades. Say yes to bright yellows this year! Yes, the haldi (turmeric) fever is here to stay for sure.
