Every melt in mouth bite of her cake is a delight that tastes just right. It oozes with freshness of flavors and bursts with softness of cream. Once you have treated yourself to home baker Sampada Kadiwal’s luscious cakes and other baking delicacies, you wouldn’t have it any other way. None of the over the shelf or the run-of-the-mill online ones will satiate your sweet tooth after you have indulged in Sweet Tooth by Sampada’s customized designer/celebration cakes. While tempting designs are trending across the market, all that glitters is not gold when it comes to taste.

“When I began to take interest in baking, cream cakes in India were as good as soggy bread with flavorless sugary taste. I wanted to introduce a ‘wow’ factor to my bakes so people get to enjoy the real succulence of a cake,” explains Sampada.

The secret to her refreshingly comforting cream and gorgeous looking cakes and other bakes is no magic. Instead it is her relentless dedication towards maintaining standards of quality and hygiene. Sampada chooses to use ingredients that she deems safe and healthier options, even if they add on to the cost. “I buy high quality ingredients and I prefer to do everything right from mixing and whisking to baking and cleaning myself, rather than relying on any domestic help. Sometimes, I am up until 1 – 2 am in early morning. But finally when customers come to pick the cakes and I see that excitement and joy on their faces, especially those of children, I can rest assured all that labour of love is worth it,” says Sampada.

She started experimented with vanilla loaves and posted the images on social media. The photographs of her baking treats caught the attention of her friends and acquaintances at a time when the markets were reeling under COVID shutdown. Orders started trickling in and her business picked up greatly by word of mouth. Like any other home business, hers has been a trajectory of highs and lows. However, Sampada held on to every inch of hope, even when the going got tough. She kept honing her expertise by pursuing online and offline courses with some of the well-known names in the business of baking in India, such as Aditi Shukla and Whisk Cake Studio.

In the pipeline, Sampada has plans to expand her baking facility and also to employ women from underprivileged sections of society.
